Empowering Bermuda's Youth to Shape the Future

The Bermuda Youth Civic Union (BYCU) is a youth-led civic organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of young Bermudians in political spheres and public life. Through research, advocacy, community service and civic engagement, we seek to contribute towards positive change in education, social justice, healthcare, youth affairs and overall government policy-making and legislation.

Our History

The Bermuda Youth Civic Union was founded in July 2026 by SGY2 students Christopher Madeiros and Evan Davis to directly combat the rising levels of voter apathy and youth alienation felt in Bermuda. The BYCU asserts itself as the primary youth vanguard in Bermuda for championing youth-led change, advocacy and unifying the voices of students and young people from across every corner of our island.

What We Do

The BYCU seeks to link youth advocacy to meaningful change regarding Bermuda’s community and governance. This includes a broad range of activities such as:

  • Regular meetings

  • Local petitioning and surveying

  • Publishing position papers and articles

  • Partnering with local organizations

  • Engaging in community service

  • Hosting political podcasts

  • Interviewing political figures
